It is unfortunate that the Nissan 350Z does not offer an oil temperature gauge from the factory. Many of us already know that the optimal position for this oil indicator is in the door panel in the ventilation shaft. Our solution makes it possible to address this deficiency by integrating an accurate oil temperature display into your 350Z that fits seamlessly into the design. With this display you can always keep an eye on the temperature of your engine oil to support the performance of your vehicle
We rely on an analog oil temperature display that promises precision.
Many digital displays are very fragile or do not fit into the Z design at all. The VDO display offers an OEM look and fits perfectly with the 3 additional instruments in the interior.
The advertising sheets are classic and straight-lined. No colorful lighting or anything similar, but exact display values and reliability. The display is equipped with transmitted light technology for clear display day and night and reflection-reducing cover glass for the best view of the values.
Measuring range: 50°C to 150°C
Diameter display: 56mm
Our 3D display adapter is available in two versions:
- Variant with ventilation holes - more visual than functional
- Version without ventilation holes
You can get it only here:
This set not only includes a matching VDO display, but also the custom-made VDO temperature sensor with M12x1.25 thread, especially for your Nissan 350z or 370z. The temperature sender is mounted in your oil pan and replaces the original oil drain plug.
The Nissan 350Z oil temperature gauge set consists of:
- VDO oil temperature display (analog)
- Adapter for the ventilation shaft in the door panel
- Mounting plate for adapters
Engine oil temperature sender 50-150° M12x1.25
Copper seal
No wiring harness in the set
We give you complete freedom - there is no prefabricated cable harness for this set. Here everyone lays their lines individually. Do you need help or have questions? We are here for you and would be happy to give you tips!

A big topic of discussion among Nissan 350Z drivers is the ideal place to measure oil temperature. Some argue for measuring at the oil cooler sandwich plate, while others prefer the oil pan. But what is the right choice? It is crucial for us to know at what temperature our engine oil reaches its maximum limit. The answer to this question leads us to the oil pan, as this is the hottest point for the engine oil.
If we measure the oil temperature on the sandwich panel, for example, and get good values, we can never be sure whether the engine oil has actually reached its "boiling point of 160°C". This is because we only have the low temperatures in mind. Ultimately, everyone has to decide for themselves which method best suits their needs.
Fully synthetic or PAO oils (poly-alpha-olefins) start to burn at around 260 °C. Mineral based oils from approx. 220 °C. The additives contained in today's engine oils can make up up to 30% of the engine oil and some of these are already falling off120°C out of. From this additive failure beginsOil aging. Therefore, the operating temperatures of engine oils must be kept below 120 °C and the optimal temperature range of engine oils is 80 to 90 °C. In this area, engine oils have the lowest aging due to the influence of temperature.
The different viscosity classes, such as 5W-30 or 10W-60, of engine oils have nothing to do with their temperature resistance, but only provide information about their temperature suitability range.
Therefore, a synthetic 5W-30 motor oil is just as resistant to combustion as a 10W-60 with the same oil base.
